Will Chargers Get In On Race To Hire Top NFC Assistant GM?
Arguably the best roster, team management, and organizational competency in the NFL over the past few seasons has belonged to the San Francisco 49ers, who, under general manager John Lynch, have been incredibly successful since 2017.
With a Super Bowl, three NFC Championship games, and three NFC West division titles, the 49ers front office has presided over one of the most complete rosters of our lifetimes, with their Pro Bowl-starting quarterback Brock Purdy, whom they drafted with the last pick in the 2022 NFL draft, being no better than their seventh best player, if not a few spots lower.
While John Lynch himself isn't available for hire, assistant general manager Adam Peters is. The Raiders and Commanders, among other teams, have already put requests in to interview him.
Peters joined the team after a seven-year tenure in the Denver Broncos' player personnel department, aiding in the acquistion of 27 players through the draft, college, and free agency that contributed to their Super Bowl 50 championship roster, Super Bowl
As a member of Denver's personnel department, Peters helped the team acquire 27 players through the draft and college free agency that were vital members of the Super Bowl 50 championship roster, Super Bowl 48 appearance, and the greatest offense of all time (that Super Bowl 48 squad).
The Chargers are yet to be directly connected with Peters, but it's indisputable that they should be. The former UCLA defensive end has Southern California ties and is more than deserving of a GM gig.
The Broncos fielded arguably the best organization in the league during their Peyton Manning era, and the 49ers have been terrific in the John Lynch/Kyle Shanahan era. Peters has been connected with the best of the best, making him a prime candidate for the Bolts job.
LA's GM search has just begun, but I'd be surprised if Peters doesn't receive an interview from the Bolts.
