KC Chiefs Escape Patriots Game With Just One Noteworthy Injury
The Kansas City Chiefs' Sunday afternoon win over the New England Patriots was far from perfect, but Andy Reid's team did more than enough to secure a 10-point victory. They also remained mostly healthy in the process.
Reid had just one injury to share in the game's immediate aftermath. Wide receiver Skyy Moore had a knee injury that "swelled up" and forced him to leave the game.
Moore technically didn't log any statistics (other than snaps played) during Sunday's game, as the play he would've gotten credited for ended up getting nullified due to a penalty. He's probably thankful for that. The second-year man hauled in a Patrick Mahomes pass in the third quarter and fumbled on the play, although a defensive holding flag led to him going without an actual target or reception in the box score.
It was another quiet game for Moore, who didn't have a catch in last week's loss to the Buffalo Bills. In 14 games played this season, the Western Michigan product and No. 54 overall pick in the 2022 NFL Draft has just 21 receptions for 244 yards. In far fewer snaps as a rookie, he logged 22 receptions for 250 yards. Additional clarity on his knee ailment will likely come either the next time Reid speaks to the media or sometime over the next few days.
Other Week 15 Chiefs injury odds and ends
Veteran running back Jerick McKinnon started his halftime break a bit early, heading to the locker room with a trainer to presumably treat an injury. He was spotted wearing some sort of wrap or other device on the upper portion of his right leg following a Clyde Edwards-Helaire touchdown in the third quarter, but the 31-year-old did return to the game later without it. He had one rush for four yards in the second half and Reid didn't mention him being injured after the game.
At the end of an 11-yard reception late in the game, tight end Travis Kelce seemed to be favoring his left arm and briefly exited the contest. He came back in, however, and Reid said when questioned that Kelce's injury was an elbow stinger. It doesn't appear to be anything serious.
