Travis Kelce Sends Message to Ja’Marr Chase After Patrick Mahomes Jab

On a new episode of New Heights, Travis Kelce came to Patrick Mahomes's defense and had a message for Bengals wideout Ja'Marr Chase.
In this story:

Last week, Cincinnati Bengals superstar Joe Burrow was asked who the best quarterback in the NFL was. He took a mature approach, citing Patrick Mahomes of the Kansas City Chiefs as "the one to knock off" until someone else has a better season than him. On the other hand, wide receiver Ja'Marr Chase didn't feel the same way. Asking, "Pat Who?" when given a similar prompt, Chase chose to back his own signal-caller rather than agree with him.

Mahomes ended up getting the last laugh, however, as he posed at the Chiefs' Super Bowl LVII ring ceremony and captioned a picture with "That's Who" by the time the night was over.

Nothing else has been said about the playful banter between the two NFL stars — until Wednesday, that is. On a new episode of the New Heights podcast with Jason and Travis Kelce, the latter Kelce chimed in with his take on Chase's comment, calling it a bold move:

"I thought it was a little bold, you know? The guy (Mahomes) is a two-time league MVP, a two-time Super Bowl MVP. To say 'Pat Who?' is, like, I don't know..."

After some back-and-forth with Jason, Travis said he's also pro-trash talk, but only if it's backed up with play and success on the field. It shouldn't be sent Mahomes's way, though:

"It is what it is, dog. Who doesn't love some good locker room banter, man? Shoutout to Ja'Marr Chase for holding it down for his QB, but don't you ever disrespect Pat Mahomes now. If you want to talk your shit, talk your shit, pimp. Just better back it up."

With the Chiefs and Bengals having an established regular-season and playoff rivalry over the past couple of seasons, it's safe to assume that this won't be the last time a player from either side says something noteworthy about the opponent. While there's very clearly a high level of mutual respect between Mahomes and Burrow, all bets are off elsewhere. Whether it be Eli Apple going after Kansas City back in the 2021 season or Justin Reid's jab at Hayden Hurst this past campaign, almost everything is on the table when it comes to these two clubs.
