Throughout the Kansas City Chiefs' late run through the 2022-23 regular season and playoffs, one of their biggest fans was making headlines for the wrong reasons. Now months removed from his initial arrest for an alleged December robbery in Oklahoma, 28-year-old Xavier Babudar — better known by many as "ChiefsAholic" — is arrested once again. This time around, things are even more serious.

A Twitter thread released by FBI Kansas City (the first tweet is available below) explains that Babudar was arrested last Friday in California after a few months on the run. In March, while being out on bond and awaiting further progress with his case stemming from the robbery, Babudar took off his ankle monitor and fled the area in an effort to escape. Per the thread, he's been charged with bank theft and transporting stolen property across state lines:

According to an affidavit referred to by the FBI, Babudar "purchased and redeemed more than $1 million in chips" at casinos across nearby Kansas, Missouri and Illinois between the months of April and December of last year. That isn't it, though, as there's plenty more to the story outside of just the robbing and subsequent money laundering. The justice department's website states that Babudar's cell phone loosely connects him to being in the same locations where some unsolved and/or attempted bank robberies existed elsewhere:

Investigators also reviewed unsolved bank robberies throughout the Midwest during that time frame. Babudar’s cell phone was placed in the same cities and locations for these previously unsolved bank robberies and attempted robberies, the affidavit says. In addition to the bank theft with which Babudar is charged in this complaint and the bank robbery charged in Oklahoma, the affidavit specifically refers to four bank robberies in Nebraska, Iowa, Tennessee and Oklahoma, and to the attempted robberies of two credit unions in Minnesota.

Babudar built a sizable following on social media by acting as "ChiefsAholic," going to many of the Chiefs' home games and oftentimes even traveling to attend road contests while dressed in a wolf costume. His absence late in the 2022 regular season is what led a part of "Chiefs Twitter" to inquire about his status, which then turned south once it was revealed that he had been arrested in Oklahoma following the alleged robbery. His Twitter account is currently inactive.

Despite recent developments, as is standard, the charges against Babudar are accusations until proven otherwise by a federal trial jury. He was set to appear in court on Monday afternoon in Sacramento, Calif.
