KC Chiefs Give Final Week 4 Injury Updates on Nick Bolton and Jaylen Watson
With the Kansas City Chiefs closing in on their Week 4 game against the New York Jets on Sunday Night Football, the team is also gaining some clarity on the injury front.
Head coach Andy Reid took the podium on Friday afternoon and briefly provided an update on two of Kansas City's injured players. Per Reid, linebacker Nick Bolton and cornerback Jaylen Watson will "most likely" be held out of this weekend's contest.
Bolton, who exited Week 2's Chiefs win over the Jacksonville Jaguars before later returning to the game, has been recovering from a sprained ankle. The third-year linebacker hasn't practiced since after that game on Sept. 17, with veteran Drue Tranquill assuming his role in the starting lineup. Bolton recently expressed to Justin Melo on Arrowhead Report this week that he was "taking things day by day" in his recovery, although it appears that he'll need at least one more week before making his return to the field.
Watson, a seventh-round pick from a year ago, was a full participant in practice on Wednesday afternoon but missed practice on Thursday and Friday. Reid described his injury as a shoulder strain, and he'll likely be joining Bolton on Sunday's inactives list. Elsewhere, however, tight end Noah Gray is expected to play in Week 4 after missing back-to-back practices and returning to work on Friday. Gray's been battling an illness this week.
For the Jets, head coach Robert Saleh revealed that safety Tony Adams and offensive lineman Wes Schweitzer will miss this week's game. Here's more from Ralph Ventre of Jets Country:
Adams and Schweitzer have been listed as DNPs on the official injury report all week ahead of the Sunday Night Football showdown against the Super Bowl LVII champion Kansas City Chiefs on October 1.
The former is dealing with a hamstring injury that he sustained in the second quarter of the Week 2 battle at Dallas. Meanwhile, Schweitzer remains in concussion protocol. The interior offensive lineman suffered a head injury in practice leading up to the Week 3 game against New England.
UPDATE: The Chiefs' official injury designations for Week 4 have ruled both Bolton and Watson out.
