The Kansas City Chiefs and quarterback Patrick Mahomes are coming off a season for the ages, and it's been known for a while that part of that process is being documented by Netflix in the Quarterback docu-series featuring Mahomes, Kirk Cousins of the Minnesota Vikings and Marcus Mariota of the Philadelphia Eagles (who played out his 2022 season with the Atlanta Falcons). On Wednesday morning, the football world got another behind-the-scenes look at the series.

Mahomes tweeted out the official trailer for Quarterback, which is slated to release exclusively on Netflix on July 12:

According to Netflix, Quarterback will offer "unprecedented access" to the seasons — both on and off the field — of Mahomes, Cousins and Mariota. The series is nine episodes long and follows the players not only while being mic'd up on the field and on the sidelines, but also "inside players' homes, showing how they navigate the pressures of their professional and personal lives."

Mahomes's 2PM Productions company is producing the series along with NFL Films. Peyton Manning is also working as an executive producer for the project. Here's what Mahomes had to say about Quarterback to Tudum in June, per the site's article giving fans a first look at what to expect:

“I’m excited for fans to get an exclusive, behind-the-scenes look at an unforgettable season for the entire Chiefs organization and for my family. From welcoming home a new baby in the middle of the season to welcoming the Lombardi Trophy back to Kansas City, our crew was there for it all. This new Netflix series will show the time, preparation and balance that it takes to be an NFL quarterback and perform on the biggest stage.”

Mahomes, Cousins and Mariota each experienced very different 2022-23 seasons. For Mahomes, he was the NFL MVP and led his team all the way to a Super Bowl LVII victory while also battling a high-ankle sprain. Cousins's Vikings made the playoffs but were trounced in heartbreaking fashion during Wild Card Weekend. Mariota started 13 games for the Falcons but eventually stepped away from the team when Desmond Ridder began assuming the top quarterback role late in the year. Quarterback is bound to document all of this and more, which should make it a must-watch during the pre-training camp portion of the NFL offseason.
