The 2023 NFL legal tampering period/negotiation window is open, and the Kansas City Chiefs are joined by all 31 other NFL teams in speaking with representatives of unrestricted free agents around the league. General manager Brett Veach has a long list of players the team could potentially lose this offseason, and the first domino of that process is falling on Monday afternoon.

Per a report by Ari Meirov of The 33rd Team, offensive tackle Andrew Wylie plans to sign a contract with the Washington Commanders. The deal is expected to become official once the new league year begins on Wednesday afternoon, and Wylie will be reuniting with former Chiefs offensive coordinator Eric Bieniemy. According to Meirov, the deal is a three-year pact worth $24 million. Nate Taylor of The Athletic confirmed the report.

Wylie, who will turn 29 before the start of next season, is coming off a year that saw him start every game for the Chiefs en route to their Super Bowl LVII victory over the Philadelphia Eagles. The veteran struggled at times, surrendering 49 pressures and allowing nine sacks (per Pro Football Focus) in the regular season, but he also stepped up big-time for the team when needed and was ultimately worth the price tag Veach and company paid him.

According to Spotrac's value estimates, Wylie was worth an average annual value of $4.6M on the open market. This new contract is set to nearly double that average figure, although there's an argument to be made that the veteran is deserving of it. Wylie will now hold down the right tackle spot in D.C. and the Chiefs will be tasked with continuing to build up an offensive line that currently has the likes of Lucas Niang, Prince Tega Wanogho and Darian Kinnard as its potential right tackle options.

UPDATE: Shortly after this article was published, it was reported by Adam Schefter of ESPN that Kansas City plans to sign former Jacksonville Jaguars tackle Jawaan Taylor to a four-year deal worth $80M.
