Colts Draft Running Back Evan Hull, Add Pass-Catching Element
The Indianapolis Colts have selected Northwestern running back Evan Hull in the fifth round of the 2023 NFL Draft, with the 176th overall pick.
With the likely intention of adding a dynamic element to their backfield, the Colts secure one of the better pass-catching running backs in the draft, who also happens to be quite athletic.
Hull is obviously no threat to All-Pro running back Jonathan Taylor, but the role that he can carve out versus Zack Moss and Deon Jackson is quite interesting. Hull and Jackson are both quality inside runners who can catch, and Moss is the best pass blocker of the group.
According to the Indy Draft Guide, here is how Hull fits with the Colts:
Hull projects as one of if not the most natural receiving back in this class. Moves really well out of the backfield and projects as a change of pace and receiving back at the next level. Would be a nice complement to Jonathan Taylor if the opportunity presents itself.
