Colts Draft Highly Athletic D-Lineman Adetomiwa Adebawore
The Indianapolis Colts have selected Northwestern defensive lineman Adetomiwa Adebawore in the fourth round of the 2023 NFL Draft, with the 110th overall pick.
The Colts luck out on this one, as Adebawore (6'2", 282, 33-7/8" arms, 22 years old) was expected to be gone in the second round, or the end of Day 2 at the latest.
He's incredibly athletic and has position flexibility to play both inside and out along the line. We'll see what the Colts' plan for him is, but it makes sense for him to either begin as a three-technique with extra weight, or a strong-side end for defensive coordinator Gus Bradley. He fits in well with the Dayo Odeyingbos and Samson Ebukams of the Colts roster.
For what it's worth, Adebawore saw significant action inside during the Senior Bowl, and he told reporters following his selection that he feels teams see him as an interior player, including the Colts.
According to the Indy Draft Guide, here is how Adebawore fits with the Colts:
The Colts love for their defensive lineman to have position versatility so they can put them anywhere on the line to exploit matchups. That is what Adetomiwa Adebawore presents, a feisty and athletic defensive lineman that can get after the quarterback from anywhere on the line. His length is also an advantage to keep offensive linemen from getting their hands on him. While the Colts have much more pressing needs in the first couple of rounds, it’s no doubt the Colts would love having a player like Adebawore.
