Colts Draft Hulking, Former Two-Sport Offensive Tackle, Jake Witt
The Indianapolis Colts have selected Northern Michigan offensive tackle Jake Witt in the seventh round of the 2023 NFL Draft, with the 236th overall pick.
Witt (6'7", 302, 33-1/2" arms, 23 years old) is another hulking offensive tackle prospect for the Colts after they selected Blake Freeland (6'7", 302) earlier in the draft.
Another small-school prospect for the Colts, Witt has an interesting background. He was a two-sport star in football and basketball in high school, per NFL.com's Chad Reuter. Beyond that, he's had to adapt on the fly during his football career.
"Witt began the 2021 season as a starting tight end (6-79-13.2 receiving), moving to right tackle during halftime of the team's game against Ferris State without having any prior experience at the position," per Reuter. "He started the final two games at that spot in 2021 and then moved to left tackle for all 11 games as a senior, garnering second-team All-Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference honors."
With how young he is at the tackle position, Witt may need a little time to develop, but he's got a terrific blend of size and athleticism.
Along with Witt and Freeland, the Colts also have Bernhard Raimann, Braden Smith, Jordan Murray, and Carter O'Donnell at offensive tackle.
