Colts Draft Potential Swing Tackle Blake Freeland
The Indianapolis Colts have selected BYU offensive tackle Blake Freeland in the fourth round of the 2023 NFL Draft, with the 106th overall pick.
Freeland (6'7", 302, 23 years old) is a huge, highly athletic prospect who has multiple starts at both left (26) and right tackle (8), starting for all four years.
For the Colts, he provides them with much-needed depth at offensive tackle, where they currently have very little experience. Jordan Murray and Carter O'Donnell are the only pure backups to starters Bernhard Raimann and Braden Smith. If Freeland can add quality bulk and transfer to the NFL game, he can be a critical part of the Colts' line.
According to the Indy Draft Guide, here is how Freeland fits with the Colts:
Freeland could be an interesting project pick for the Colts on Day 3. His athleticism is off the charts and matches the type of players the Colts draft along the offensive line. However, Freeland likely is ready to play right away and will need plenty of coaching to refine his game and reach his potential. If the Colts are willing to be patient with him, Freeland could develop into a very solid swing tackle in Indy.
