Colts' Jonathan Taylor Takes Step Toward Next Contract
The Indianapolis Colts’ workhouse running back Jonathan Taylor has placed his financial and contractual trust into the hands of new agents, per NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport.
Now, with Malki Kawa and Ethan Lock of First Round Management, Taylor can put an additional step behind him that is leading to a potential contract extension. Many believe Taylor more than deserves, given his incredible impact from the backfield and how much he’ll be leaned on with the changes in the Colts’ facility and roster.
This also means that now Taylor will be sharing agents with teammate and defensive leader Shaq Leonard. This is a crucial step for a player like Taylor, who is coming off of a down season, coming up on a possible contract renewal, and has so much new talent and changes that have happened around him.
Another mental hurdle is now Taylor is with a reputable team that isn’t facing any legal or financial related issues. His former agency, BeGreat Sports, didn’t find themselves in the calmest of waters after allegedly not paying over $800k worth of owed loans.
With a new agency helping him and everything starting to line up for a contract extension, this is exactly where a player with the importance of Taylor wants to be. It’s fair to say the Colts also want Taylor’s mind perfectly tuned into the offseason and developing rapport with new head coach Shane Steichen and rookie quarterback Anthony Richardson.
Is Taylor getting the extension everyone has been clamoring for? Given the massive importance that his dynamic ability brings to the offense, it’s something the Colts should put as a high priority. Also, it’s likely to happen even more now that he has completed the crucial task of getting the right agency and professional representation for his NFL career and future with the Colts.
