Colts, Patriots Announce Inactives Ahead of Sunday's Matchup
The final NFL game in Europe for 2023 is about to take place as the Indianapolis Colts matchup with the New England Patriots.
Both teams saw players fail to make the trip overseas for various reasons. Colts cornerback JuJu Brents (quad) and tight end Drew Ogletree (foot) stayed back in the States due to injuries. For the Patriots, cornerback J.C. Jackson (personal) was told to stay home due to reliability issues.
However, the Colts are getting back right tackle Braden Smith after he missed four games with hip and wrist injuries. Smith's return means the Colts will have the entirety of their starting offensive line for the first time since Week 2. On the flip side, the Patriots will be without their starting left tackle Trent Brown (ankle).
Here are both teams' lists of inactive players.
- CB JuJu Brents
- LB Cameron McGrone
- G Arlington Hambright
- G Jack Anderson
- TE Drew Ogletree
Brents and Ogletree remain the only big names to be inactive for the Colts this week. Zaire Franklin, Josh Downs, and Alec Pierce are all active after being listed as questionable on Friday. While Downs is active, the rookie is likely to see a reduced role today as he is dealing with a knee injury.
One name to keep an eye on is quarterback Sam Ehlinger. Ehlinger came down with an illness and was listed as questionable. While Ehlinger is active and will backup Minshew, he will likely not be 100% if he has to come into the game in relief.
- WR DeVante Parker
- LB Ja'Whaun Bentley
- QB Will Grier
- CB J.C. Jackson
- CB Alex Austin
- OT Trent Brown
- DE Sam Roberts
The trio of Parker, Jackson, and Brown were all ruled out on Friday after they failed to practice all week. Bentley is another big name to be ruled inactive as the linebacker is the leading tackler for the Patriots this season. Bill Belichick's squad will be without some heavy hitters today as the Patriots desperately need a win before heading into their bye.
