The Indianapolis Colts announced on Monday that they have signed free-agent safety Jalen "Teez" Tabor while also waiving running back Zavier Scott with an injury settlement.

Tabor (6'0", 201, 27 years old) came into the NFL as a second-round pick by the Detroit Lions (2017-18) and has also spent time with the San Francisco 49ers (2019-20), Chicago Bears (2020-21), Atlanta Falcons (2022), and Seattle Seahawks (2022).

Tabor has yet to catch on for long with any one team, perhaps a result of his poor pre-draft testing coming to fruition, but has experience playing boundary cornerback, slot, and safety, and has 389 career snaps on special teams according to Pro Football Focus.

In his career, Tabor has started 7-of-38 games, totaling 59 tackles and 1 quarterback hit. Last season with Seattle, he played in 10 games (1 start) and had 9 tackles.

The Colts are looking to reinforce a safety group that has seen starters Julian Blackmon and Rodney Thomas II dealing with minor injuries recently. Tabor will help fill out the group alongside Nick Cross, Trevor Denbow, Henry Black, Marcel Dabo, and Aaron Maddox. The Colts also worked out free-agent veteran safety Ronnie Harrison Jr. on Monday.

Scott was a rookie undrafted free agent signing for the Colts this offseason who had been competing for a depth spot among the Colts' running back. Entering the NFL as a wide receiver, Scott is a multi-talented player who unfortunately fell victim to an injured, snake-bitten Colts running back group.
