Colts, Texans Injury Report: Top Cornerback Remains Out

Indianapolis Colts cornerback Stephon Gilmore remained out of practice with an injury on Thursday.

The Indianapolis Colts only have one full practice session until they gear up for their season finale against the Houston Texans, and indications are that they could be shorthanded when it comes to one of their best players.

Top cornerback Stephon Gilmore has yet to practice this week as he nurses a wrist injury. Now, would he be sitting out 10 weeks ago when the Colts were still trying to make the playoffs? Who knows? There's not much to gain from him playing on Sunday in a meaningless game. Still, if he doesn't play then the Colts will be without him, Isaiah Rodgers Sr., and Kenny Moore II, the latter two who were both placed on Injured Reserve in the last two weeks.

Overall, here's how both teams are looking ahead of Sunday's matchup.

COLTS

WEDNESDAY

  • Did Not Participate — DE Rashod Berry (travel), CB Brandon Facyson (concussion), QB Nick Foles (ribs), CB Stephon Gilmore (wrist), TE Kylen Granson (ankle), S Rodney McLeod Jr. (rest)
  • Full Participant — WR Ashton Dulin (concussion)

THURSDAY

  • Did Not Participate — QB Nick Foles (ribs), CB Stephon Gilmore (wrist), TE Kylen Granson (ankle)
  • Limited Participant — CB Brandon Facyson (concussion)
  • Full Participant — DE Rashod Berry (travel), WR Ashton Dulin (concussion), S Rodney McLeod Jr. (rest)

The team was without its top four usual cornerbacks as the week of practice began on Wednesday. Gilmore and Brandon Facyson (concussion) sat out while Moore and Rodgers went on IR. Facyson upgraded to limited work on Thursday.

Since the Colts are dealing with several veterans with injuries and there's one meaningless game left, don't be surprised to see guys sit out on Sunday who might normally play otherwise. In the secondary, we may see a heavy dose of Dallis Flowers, Tony Brown, and Julian Blackmon lining up at corner.

With Foles likely to miss the game, it'll be Sam Ehlinger starting at quarterback with Matt Ryan serving as the backup. At tight end, if Kylen Granson remains out, as he has been the last couple of weeks, it'll continue to be Jelani Woods lining up alongside Mo Alie-Cox.

Dulin was able to return to practice in a full capacity for both days so far, leading to him hopefully clearing the concussion protocol. He got injured two weeks ago and sat out last week's game.

TEXANS

WEDNESDAY

Per the Texans: "The Houston Texans held a walkthrough on Wednesday. Wednesday's injury report is only an estimation of a player's participation if there was a full practice."

  • Did Not Participate — OL Jimmy Morrissey (concussion), DB Steven Nelson (illness)
  • Full Participant — TE Teagan Quitoriano (thigh)

THURSDAY

  • Did Not Participate — OL Jimmy Morrissey (concussion), DB Steven Nelson (illness), DL Ogbonnia Okoronkwo (illness)
  • Limited Participant — WR Phillip Dorsett (hamstring), TE O.J. Howard (hip)
  • Full Participant — TE Teagan Quitoriano (thigh)

Morrissey and Quitoriano missed last week's game with their injuries. Morrissey played 46 snaps for Houston against the Tennessee Titans the week prior. Quitoriano has started 5-of-8 games this season, catching a pair of touchdowns on only 4 receptions.

Okoronkwo, Dorsett, and Howard were new additions to the injury report. Howard caught a pair of touchdowns against the Colts back in Week 1.
