Indianapolis Colts Sign Former Baltimore Ravens Running Back

The Indianapolis Colts needed some assistance to fill the void left by Jonathan Taylor and Zack Moss in training camp.

The Indianapolis Colts were left pretty bare at running back with the injury of Zack Moss due to a broken arm. Not to mention, Jonathan Taylor hasn’t come to a contract resolution or been able to get off of the PUP (Physically unable to perform) list.

With rookies Evan Hull, Zavier Scott and inexperienced veteran Deon Jackson, it was a depth chart that needed help. Enter former Baltimore Raven Kenyan Drake.

Drake is coming off of a solid year in Baltimore, where he had 109 carries for 482 rushing yards and five total touchdowns. He’s also been a product of several offenses, starting his career with the Miami Dolphins (2016-2019). Followed by the Arizona Cardinals (2019-2020) and Las Vegas Raiders (2021), and the Ravens (2022) last.

For his career, he’s put together 867 carries for 3,866 rushing yards and 33 rushing scores. For receiving, he’s compiled 216 catches for 1,624 receiving yards and eight touchdowns.

Needless to say, out of the three running backs who Indianapolis gave a shot (Benny Snell and Devine Ozigbo were the others), Drake fits Shane Steichen’s offense the best and could potentially push Moss out of the RB2 role if he plays well enough.

This is a solid signing for a team that desperately needed it.

Hull, Jackson, Scott, and Jake Funk will be learning from the new veteran, who’s looking to show that he’s still got enough left to make the roster and create an impact.
