Broncos WR Jerry Jeudy Linked to Colts by New Insider Rumor

The Indianapolis Colts could be on the brink of a blockbuster move.

The Denver Broncos are not having an ideal season in their first year under new head coach Sean Payton. Currently, the Russell Wilson-led Broncos sit dead last in the AFC West with a 1-4 record (0-3 at home).

Given this struggle and how Payton may want to shake things up to fit his offense, there have been rumors of a possible trade scenario involving Broncos wide receiver Jerry Jeudy and the Indianapolis Colts. Per A to Z writer Destin Adams, the Colts have inquired about the former 15th overall pick out of Alabama.

“Sources tell me that the Colts have called the Broncos about Jerry Jeudy who many around the league believe will be traded before the trade deadline this year," Adams tweeted on Thursday.

Jeudy hasn’t been able to stay completely healthy in his four seasons. However, when he’s been on the field, he’s been able to showcase great route running, blinding speed, and abilities to make huge plays.

Throughout his NFL career, Juedy has appeared in 45 games (36 starts), totaling 174 receptions for 2,503 yards (14.4 avg) and nine touchdowns. He's moved the chains 112 times.

Jeudy would be a huge addition to Shane Steichen’s offense in Indianapolis if this blockbuster trade went down. Throwing Jeudy in the mix with Michael Pittman Jr., Alec Pierce, and Josh Downs would pressure secondaries and force mismatches for multiple Colts pass-catchers.

It’s also enticing to think of how it could help the ground game and whoever is under center, whether Gardner Minshew or Anthony Richardson, the latter being preferred so Jeudy could help him develop.

It’s a major toss-up if this trade will ever come to fruition. It’s even more of a wild card whether the Colts can land the dynamic offensive playmaker.

While the Colts would probably have to fork over a young player(s) and/or draft picks for the building of Denver’s future, it could also be worth it in the long run, given that Indianapolis is one of the youngest teams in the NFL and could get better with Jeudy’s presence.

If the Colts were to orchestrate a Jeudy trade, the former Alabama star would reunite with 2020 Broncos draft classmate KJ Hamler. Jeudy was the No. 15 overall pick in the 2020 draft, while Hamler was also drafted to Denver in the second round.

Bottom Line

This is the type of trade that could benefit both the Broncos and Colts due to what each side could want. Denver perhaps wants to get massive value for a player who’s not even in his prime yet, while Indianapolis could want to pair Jeudy with Pittman and a developing group of receivers.

This would assist greatly in getting Richardson serious targets on offense for his future with the team and Steichen’s success.
