Horseshoe Huddle Roundtable: Texans at Colts | Predictions & Picks
The biggest game of the year has arrived for the Indianapolis Colts and Houston Texans, as the winner of their Week 18 matchup will move on to the postseason while the loser's season is over.
These teams played back in Week 2, which was a 31-20 triumph by the Colts, but both sides are much different than they were four months ago, so Saturday night's matchup goes on a blank slate.
Here's how Horseshoe Huddle sees it unfolding for the Colts in Week 18 against the Texans.
Jake Arthur (@JakeArthurNFL): I think we need to throw out references for the Colts' 31-20 win back in Week 2 because both of these teams are quite a bit different. I still like the Colts in this one, narrowly, perhaps in a scenario where the last team with the ball wins. If the Colts' normal starting five offensive line and the combo of Jonathan Taylor and Zack Moss all play, I think that makes a big difference. The Texans are very banged up in some critical spots.
Pick: Colts 23, Texans 20
Zach Hicks (@ZachHicks2): The Colts and Texans are two evenly-matched teams benefitting from great coaching in 2023. Saturday’s game will be a war of attrition, with the Colts narrowly escaping in the end due to their health/play in the trenches on both sides of the ball
Pick: Colts 26, Texans 24
Andrew Moore (@AndrewMooreNFL): Lucas Oil Stadium is sure to be rockin’ as the Colts face a win-and-in against the Texans. The difference in the game will be trench play. If the Colts’ OL and DL impose their will, it will be tough for the Texans to have an answer. Ultimately, Shane Steichen will have his team ready and the Colts will make the playoffs when no one thought it to be possible just a few months ago.
Pick: Colts 27, Texans 23
Drake Wally (@DwallsterDrake): If Jonathan Greenard, Will Anderson Jr., and Sheldon Rankins are hampered by ankle injuries, look for Shane Steichen to open up the passing attack. The Houston Texans will keep this close regardless of who’s in or out, but ultimately the Indianapolis Colts will barely triumph. I believe it will be tied in the fourth quarter and will be won on a Matt Gay FG.
Pick: Colts 27, Texans 24
