The Washington Commanders hold the coveted No. 2 overall pick and with so many choices, NFL Network's Marc Ross thinks there is only one option for the franchise to pick second overall.

Just who the Washington Commanders will select with the No. 2 overall pick is perhaps the most intriguing question of the upcoming NFL Draft.

Caleb Williams is the consensus No. 1 pick who is certain to head to Chicago, but after that, it's, anyone's guess. North Carolina's Drake Maye, LSU's Jayden Daniels and Michigan's J.J. Mccarthy have all seen their names linked with a move to the nation's capital.

At this stage of their careers, there's no "wrong" answer when determining who the Commanders should select second overall. For NFL Network's Marc Ross, if he were the Commanders' general manager, it's Daniels who he is taking.

“I’m calling Jayden Daniels because I think he’s by far, the second-best quarterback in the draft,” Ross said on NFL Total Access. “I think there’s a closer gap between Caleb and Jayden than Jayden and whoever you feel is number three. I think Jayden is the second best.”

Daniels has long been thought to be the one Washington is zeroing in on. While Maye and McCarthy have seen their stocks rise in recent weeks, it still feels like Daniels will hear his name called after Williams.

The Commanders have done some good business this offseason, acquiring no less than 12 players to help strengthen the roster after a poor 4-13 season in 2023.

Now comes the time to bring it all together with their draft haul. Six picks in the top 100 mean Washington can add further weapons and strengthen other positions of need like offensive line.

If Daniels is the one Washington chooses, he will have a good running back tandem to support him in Brian Robinson Jr. and Austin Ekeler. He will also have two good receivers in Terry McLaurin and Jahan Dotson, and two savvy veterans at tight end in Zach Ertz and Logan Thomas.

And that's without the rest of the Commanders' draft haul.

The Commanders are entering a new and exciting era under new owner Josh Harris, general manager Adam Peters, and head coach Dan Quinn. The franchise has done its job in free agency, but now comes the most important part of their whole offseason - picking the right quarterback to bring it all together.
