2022 NFL Re-Draft: Commanders Change It Up; Where's WR Jahan Dotson?

The Washington Commanders made some strong choices in the 2022 NFL Draft. Where do those picks end up in a re-draft exercise?
In this story:

The Washington Commanders rookies are recovering after their first season in the NFL.

The 2022 rookie class was a mixed bag in Washington. While first-round wide receiver Jahan Dotson and third-round running back Brian Robinson Jr. flashed a lot of potential, there were others who still hold a cloud of mystery in injured second-round defensive tackle Phidarian Mathis and fifth-round tight end Cole Turner.

Then, there's players like fourth-round defensive back Percy Butler and fifth-round quarterback Sam Howell who showed promise in limited playing time.

ESPN re-drafted the first two rounds of the 2022 NFL Draft, and Dotson, the No. 16 pick, fell three spots to the No. 19 selection, where the New Orleans Saints selected him.

However, ESPN felt that the Commanders should have targeted an offensive lineman, leading them to Carolina Panthers offensive tackle Ikem Ekwonu, who was originally the No. 6 pick.

When the Commanders were on the clock in the second round, instead of taking Mathis, the team selected Tennessee Titans cornerback Roger McCreary, who was originally the No. 35 pick.

The Commanders picks in the re-draft represent the team's current needs as it goes into the upcoming draft. In Draft Wire's latest two-round mock draft, those are the two positions addressed.

Washington also saw some love at the end of the second round in ESPN's re-draft, as Robinson was taken with the No. 63 pick by the Cincinnati Bengals, 35 spots higher than where he was originally taken at No. 98.

Robinson's selection shows that the Commanders have an eye for talent and have made positive draft decisions. Now, it's time to channel that energy into the team's newest needs.
