Ravens Contemplate Lamar Jackson Trade; Commanders Interested?

With rumors circulating that the Ravens could potentially trade away quarterback Lamar Jackson, could Washington go "all in" to acquire him?

The Baltimore Ravens are rumored to be entertaining the idea of a trade for Lamar Jackson should a team offer an absurd amount of draft picks. Are you listening, Washington?

This latest development, while just a rumor and likely won't happen, but the Washington Commanders will now be watching the situation in Baltimore intently.

Having made no secret last offseason of the willingness to go big in the hope of acquiring a top talent at the quarterback position, Jackson potentially becoming available could be just the tonic for Ron Rivera to turn his team from playoff hopeful to bonafide playoff team.

Now, the question is, what will be the going rate?

Deshaun Watson was traded to the Cleveland Browns for three first-round picks (2022, '23, and '24), a third-round pick (2022), and a fourth-round pick in 2024.

For Baltimore to entertain the idea, that kind of package must be a starting point.

Having a team capable of making a playoff push, minus a quarterback, Washington could be in the position to go all in for Jackson.

While Rivera stated Sam Howell is the "likely" starter next season, should there even be a hint of Jackson becoming available, the Commanders' front office needs to move heaven and earth to get the quarterback on its roster.

But will they be willing to stump up what can only be described as a king's ransom?

They need to be.

A generational talent, Jackson could be the missing piece for the Commanders. With a top-10 defense under Jack Del Rio and an offense that was good enough to have a playoff spot locked up until a spectacular fall, Washington could make the move that its fanbase craves.

However...

This is all moot should Baltimore not get what they are after, but the Commanders should already be on the phone with the Ravens' front office to see what kind of deal it would need to nab Jackson away.
