BREAKING: Commanders' Chase Young, Terry McLaurin Practice vs. Cardinals

Chase Young and Terry McLaurin are practicing after recovering from injuries for the Washington Commanders.
In this story:

The Washington Commanders are excited about a pair of good news pieces as the team continues practicing for their season opener Sunday at home against the Arizona Cardinals.

Both defensive end Chase Young (neck) and receiver Terry McLaurin (toe) are in pads at practice on Wednesday, giving a lot of optimism towards their statuses for Sunday.

Here's a look at the full injury report ...

Young, 24, played in just three games last season recovering from a torn ACL, but now the former Defensive Rookie of the Year is dealing with a neck stinger suffered in Washington's preseason game against the Cleveland Browns on Aug. 11. Sunday's game will mark a full month since the injury, and Young appears to be healing on his normally scheduled pace.

Washington has been extremely cautious with Young in the past, so it's even more of a good sign that he appears healthy in the days leading up to the game.

McLaurin is also dealing with a strenuous injury. He suffered a case of turf toe during Washington's preseason game against the Baltimore Ravens on Aug. 21, and has been limited ever since. An injury that's manageable could become more severe and cause McLaurin to miss even more time if he just tries to get back on the field as fast as he can.

That's why McLaurin's return to practice is significant ... even if it doesn't guarantee that he'll play Sunday.

The Commanders will likely continue to monitor their statuses in the days leading up to the game. Kickoff is set for 1 p.m. Sunday.
