Carson Wentz Betting Odds: Commanders Ex to Become Chiefs QB Patrick Mahomes Backup?

The Washington Commanders cut Carson Wentz on Monday. Which team is the favorite to be his new home?
In this story:

Carson Wentz is adjusting to his post-Washington Commanders life.

After being cut by the team earlier this week, Wentz now has options to sign with several teams around the league, either as a starter or a high-level backup.

Should he sign with the Kansas City Chiefs, a team looking for a player to backup Patrick Mahomes, he could position himself in a great spot to win his second Super Bowl ring.

According to Gamble Online, the Chiefs are the favorites to land Wentz at +300.

After failed stints as a starter with the Philadelphia Eagles, Indianapolis Colts and Commanders, Wentz is looking for his fourth team in as many years. But he may still be looking for a chance to stay within the starting quarterback tier for one final shot.

A team that could tab him as the starter is the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, the second-likeliest team to sign Wentz at +400, per Gamble Online. Wentz would compete with 2021 second-round pick Kyle Trask for the starting job.

The Las Vegas Raiders are also in the running looking for a starting quarterback after cutting Derek Carr last month. The Raiders sit comfortably with the third-best odds in the Wentz sweepstakes at +600. However, Las Vegas is likely to draft a rookie with the No. 7 pick and would likely see Wentz as a stopgap.

No matter where Wentz goes, he's set to face more adversity in his next stop.
