The Washington Commanders are checking off a big need in free agency hours into the legal tampering period.

According to NFL Network insider Ian Rapoport, the Commanders are signing Dallas Cowboys center Tyler Biadasz.

The move comes after the Commanders hired Dan Quinn as their coach last month and signed defensive lineman Dorance Armstrong, both of whom were with the Cowboys last year.

The Commanders needed a center after releasing Nick Gates, whom the team signed last year and failed to deliver strong results.

Biadasz, 26, has been the Cowboys' starting center for the past three seasons and made the Pro Bowl in 2022.

With Biadasz anchoring the offensive line, Washington likely isn't done. As the team with the most cap space in the NFL, the Commanders are expected to make several big splashes in free agency.

Biadasz can't officially sign with the Commanders until the new league year begins on Wednesday at 4 p.m. ET.
