Chiefs QB Patrick Mahomes: New Commanders Coach Eric Bieniemy 'One of The Greatest'

Patrick Mahomes had some kind words to say about Eric Bieniemy following the Kansas City Chiefs win in Super Bowl LVII earlier this month.
In this story:

The Washington Commanders are getting a lot of attention after hiring Kansas City Chiefs offensive coordinator Eric Bieniemy as the team's new assistant head coach.

While some of it has been negative, most of Bieniemy's reviews have been positive, including one from the man that has made him famous, Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes.

Following the Chiefs' second Super Bowl win in four years earlier this month, Mahomes had some kind words to say about his offensive coordinator since 2018.

"E.B. means the world to me," Mahomes said. "The way he holds me accountable, the way he makes me great every single day. This man is one of a kind, one of the greatest."

This is exactly why the Commanders were patient enough to interview eight different candidates ... for the opportunity to bring greatness into the organization.

Bieniemy's track record speaks for itself. In five years as the Chiefs offensive coordinator, Kansas City has been in the top five in offense and has hosted the AFC Championship in each one of those seasons.

While Mahomes, this year's league and Super Bowl MVP, is obviously the one most responsible for the success, there's always a great coach behind a great player.

Now, Bieniemy will have the chance to turn some of the Commanders players from good to great.
