Kentucky QB Will Levis 'Falling Out' of Round 1; Could Commanders Draft?

Will Levis is falling down NFL Draft boards. Could that mean he could join the Washington Commanders?
In this story:

The Washington Commanders don't have a surefire solution at the quarterback position.

Sure, Sam Howell will get a shot after impressing in the final game of the season, and veteran Jacoby Brissett could get a look after signing a one-year deal this offseason.

But could someone else be in the mix?

At the beginning of the draft season, mock drafts were listing four quarterbacks as potential top-10 picks ... C.J. Stroud, Bryce Young, Anthony Richardson and Will Levis. However, the latter has been slipping from mock drafts, and NFL.com didn't even list him as a first-round pick in its latest exercise.

The Commanders, who currently hold the No. 16 pick in the draft, were deemed as a team too low in the order to be in the running for a quarterback ... but if Levis falls into Washington's range, could he be an option?

Washington seems very happy with its quarterback setup and the potential Howell could have as the starter. However, the opportunity to take Levis, a player many tabbed as a top-10 pick just a few weeks ago, may be too good to pass up.

At No. 16, if Levis were to be on the board, it's possible that he would be in play for the Commanders.

It's hard to see Levis take a complete nosedive out of the first round, but with almost every team crafting a plan that doesn't include a rookie, his fall could be far more significant.

Should the Commanders and every team with a first-round pick pass on Levis, Washington's next opportunity to pick him would be at No. 47, midway through the second round.

Would Levis fall that far? Probably not, but Washington could look into trading up in order to secure a quarterback. Levis' fall has a lot to do with his value and current positioning amongst the other top quarterbacks in the class.

With Richardson's rapid rise up draft boards, Levis has fallen to a distant fourth in quarterback rankings. Using a top-10 pick to take a player you consider to be the fourth-best quarterback could be a reach. But later in the first round or early in the second could end up being a steal for whichever team takes him, including the Commanders.
