Magic Johnson Commanders Ownership Role Reveal: ‘A Vision for Fan Base!’

Read between the lines here. The official sale of the Commanders needs to be very much about football, of course. But Magic Johnson is telling us exactly what his particular role will be.
In this story:

Earvin "Magic'' Johnson has, shall we say, "lived a life.'' And it's been a life full of success that was delivered not only due to his God-given talents, but also due to his vision - as a basketball player and as a businessman.

And what is Magic's "vision'' now?

"I’m so excited to get to work on executing our vision for the Commanders and our loyal fanbase!" the Los Angeles Lakers legend said upon the announcement that Dan and Tanya Snyder have an agreement regarding the sale of the Washington Commanders to a new ownership group led by Josh Harris - and a group that includes Johnson.

First, in the statement the Snyders sent to CommandersCountry.com ...

"We are very pleased to have reached an agreement for the sale of the Commanders franchise with Josh Harris, an area native, and his impressive group of partners. We look forward to the prompt completion of this transaction and to rooting for Josh and the team in the coming years.''

And now to Magic, who will affiliate himself with Harris, who already owns the Philadelphia 76ers and New Jersey Devils. ... but will do so as he too has experience working in ownership and management (with the Lakers and the Dodgers included).

Magic Johnson's initial thoughts on the move?

"I could not be more excited to be a partner in the proposed new ownership group for the Washington Commanders," Johnson wrote on Twitter. "Josh Harris has assembled an amazing group who share a commitment to not only doing great things on the field but to making a real impact in the DMV community. I’m so excited to get to work on executing our vision for the Commanders and our loyal fanbase!"

Read between the lines here. The official sale of the Commanders needs to be very much about football, of course. But Magic Johnson is telling us exactly what his particular role will be. Here in the nation's capital, the NFL should be king. The fan base should be connected, courted and electrified.

What is Magic Johnson's job going to be? Connecting. Courting. Electrifying - you.
