NFL Draft: Commanders Trade Up, Take Clemson DE KJ Henry with No. 137 Pick
The Washington Commanders traded up to take Clemson defensive end KJ Henry with the No. 137 pick in the NFL Draft on Saturday.
Washington traded up with the Buffalo Bills from No. 150 to take Henry. and gave up the Nos. 150 and 215 picks to move up 13 spots.
"[Henry] has excellent size and movement skills for the edge position," SI Draft Bible writes. "Uses a good cross chop move when speed rushing and turns his hips well when he can win to the corner. Flexibility and bend seem to be very easy for him, showing just how good of an athlete he is for his size.
SI Draft Bible graded Henry as a third-round pick.
The 6-4, 251-pound defensive end had 3.5 sacks and 26 tackles along with a forced fumble and fumble recovery this past season.
Henry was a part of a stacked Clemson line that saw Bryan Breese and Myles Murphy get drafted in the first round.
Henry is the third defensive player taken by the Commanders after they took Emmanuel Forbes and Quan Martin in the first two rounds of the draft.
The decision to add a Henry could signal that Washington is eyeing a move for Montez Sweat or Chase Young. Both players are entering the final year of their contracts in 2023.
Washington will be back on the clock with pick No. 193.
