Emmanuel Forbes is the newest member of the Washington Commanders as the No. 16 overall pick in the 2023 NFL Draft.

The Washington Commanders are adding to their secondary by picking another cornerback, potentially the best one in the 2023 NFL Draft class.

Mississippi State standout Emmanuel Forbes was the second cornerback taken off the board after Devon Witherspoon was picked with the No. 5 pick by the Seattle Seahawks.

SI Draft Bible says Forbes is "a deceiving, lockdown type of corner with adequate size and solid speed."

Partnering with Kendall Fuller and Benjamin St-Juste, the Commanders hope Forbes can help improve their secondary.

"A lockdown cornerback, Forbes has made many opposing quarterbacks pay with his deceptive style of play," SI Draft Bible writes. "He possesses elite ball skills, as evident by his eight career interceptions. Forbes transforms into a playmaker with the ball in his hands and has three career pick-six returns for touchdowns."

Now, the Commanders have another first-round pick on the defense. With Gonzalez's addition, he joins Jonathan Allen (2017), Daron Payne (2018), Montez Sweat (2019), Chase Young (2020) and Jamin Davis (2021) as in-house selections made on Thursday.

In 12 games for the Ducks last season, Forbes recorded 46 tackles and six interceptions, three of which went for touchdowns. At 21 years old, Forbes is still developing and hopes to achieve similar numbers in the NFL.

The Commanders are on the clock again at No. 47 pick in the second round.
