NFL Free Agency: Jaguars' Calvin Ridley to Commanders?

Jacksonville Jaguars receiver Calvin Ridley is a free agent. Could the Washington Commanders sign him?

Terry McLaurin and Jahan Dotson provide the Washington Commanders with a solid duo of receivers to get their roster started for the new league year with Dyami Brown penciled in as the third guy in the room right now.

Curtis Samuel had a strong season for the Commanders last year but so far there doesn't appear to be much smoke around his return to the team.

With that in mind, it's hard to imagine Washington handing the No. 3 job to Brown and that means new additions are coming.

Among those who could come to the Commanders is Jacksonville Jaguars receiver Calvin Ridley, whose chances of joining a new team increased when defensive end Josh Allen received the franchise tag earlier this week.

Ridley's story is one full of twists and turns and a drop-plagued 2023 return to the field after being suspended for all of 2022.

After looking like he might become the next big thing back in 2020 Ridley hasn't fallen off the map, but he certainly isn't the brightest waypoint on it these days.

Ridley is set to become a free agent and Spotrac estimates he'll demand around $17.5 million in annual average value on a four-year deal.

Ridley turns 30 this coming season so this may be his last chance to capitalize on the potential he showed that made him a first-round pick in the 2018 NFL Draft.
