The Washington Commanders are saying goodbye to their backup quarterback.

According to ESPN insider Jeremy Fowler, the New England Patriots are signing Jacoby Brissett to a contract.

Brissett was listed as the third-best free agent at the position by The 33rd Team.

Washington put Brissett on the field a few times during the season, and in two of those relief appearances, he impressed.

So much so that many onlookers only grew more and more frustrated that the team didn't put him out there sooner.

Even though the general public was clamoring for more of the veteran, he stood behind Sam Howell and supported his younger teammate through it all.

Brissett would provide a veteran presence for whichever young quarterback the Commanders were to bring in, and that's always a positive.

Brissett will be able to sign his contract with the Patriots when the new league year begins on Wednesday at 4 p.m. ET.
