NFL Mock Draft: 'Freakishly Gifted' QB to Commanders?

The Washington Commanders probably won't have a chance to take a top quarterback in the draft without trading up for one.
In this story:

It's very likely that four quarterbacks will be off the board when the Washington Commanders are on the clock with the No. 16 overall pick.

But all 32 NFL teams have to be prepared for anything on draft weekend, and if the right quarterback is on the board, would the Commanders pull the trigger?

In SI Draft Bible's latest mock draft, the Commanders are slated to pick Florida quarterback Anthony Richardson with the No. 16 selection.

"Richardson’s ideal size and immense athleticism tantalize the possibilities of his greatness," SI writes. "Washington signed journeyman quarterback Jacoby Brissett after the start of free agency and has a limited sample size of last year’s fifth round pick Sam Howell. Assistant head coach and offensive coordinator Eric Bieniemy will have an opportunity to mold one hell of a freakishly gifted prospect."

Richardson is likely going to be the third quarterback off the board behind Bryce Young and C.J. Stroud and could go as early as No. 3 in the draft if a team trades up. But if quarterback-needy teams get cold feet and Richardson slides, is he too good to pass up?

The Commanders likely won't have to answer that question, but if the draft goes the way this mock does, Washington may not be able to resist taking its future franchise signal-caller.
