NFL Trade Rumors: Chiefs Get Commanders DE Chase Young?

Commanders defensive end Chase Young and his future are uncertain, so could the Chiefs make a play for the former Buckeye?
In this story:

Washington Commanders defensive end Chase Young will have to play his way to a bumper new contract. Young's future is up in the air after the franchise declined to pick up his fifth-year option (much like Daron Payne last year).

While it did work for Payne, and he was duly rewarded with a shiny next contract, Young is coming off an ACL injury and has played just three games in the last 12 months.

So, with his future uncertain, could another team swoop in for his services? CBS Sports thinks it could be a possibility.

"Young seemed like he was going to be a cornerstone player for the Commanders when he was taken No. 2 overall out of Ohio State and then made the Pro Bowl as a rookie," CBS Sports writes. "Injuries have dogged him since then, though, and Washington declined to pick up his fifth-year option. Might another team be willing to give up something of value and hope it can tap into his immense upside?"

The Kansas City Chiefs' defense is led by Chris Jones, who again had another stellar season posting 15.5 sacks. But after Jones, the next best was defensive end George Karlaftis III with six sacks.

Could Steve Spagnuolo do with a player like Chase Young? Without a doubt. While there is the injury history and what the compensation would look like, having Young potentially take over from Jones as the team's top pass rusher could be intriguing.

Seeing how Young came into the league in his rookie season (7.5 sacks in 15 games, Defensive Rookie of the Year, and a Pro Bowl nod), he hasn't hit the same heights since.

But is there a team that could want to give him a chance to prove to Washington that they were wrong not to pick up his option?

If the Chiefs come calling, it will be difficult to imagine Young's head isn't turned by the prospect of teaming up with Chris Jones.
