Philadelphia Eagles vs. Washington Commanders Live Updates: Washington Falls to Philadelphia 38-31

The Washington Commanders and Philadelphia Eagles will square off for the second time this season.
In this story:

Will the Washington Commanders get back on track?

They'll face a tall task when they host the Philadelphia Eagles (6-1) at 1 p.m. at FedEx Field on Sunday.

In their first meeting, the Eagles edged the Commanders 34-31 in overtime on Oct. 1 at Lincoln Financial Field. Sam Howell turned in a solid outing, completing 29 of 41 passes for 290 yards and a touchdown, while also running for 40 yards.

“I think really it's about confidence, about trying to build on what happened and the opportunities we had and learn from those things," Commanders head coach Ron Rivera said. "Learn from the good and learn from the bad. There was a lot of good things. There was a lot of tough things that went on in that game.

The defense struggled to slow down the potent Philadelphia offense, as Jalen Hurts completed 25 of 27 passes for 319 yards and two touchdowns. A.J. Brown completely torched the Commanders secondary with nine catches for 175 yards and two scores.

The two teams are trending in opposite directions after last Sunday. Washington is coming off of a 14-7 loss to the New York Giants (2-5) and Howell was sacked six times. Philadelphia beat the Miami Dolphins 31-17 and are now atop the NFC after losses by the Detroit Lions (5-2) and San Francisco 49ers (5-2).

Washington will be without linebacker Cody Barton (ankle) and offensive lineman Saahdiq Charles (calf), as they were placed on the Injured Reserve after suffering injuries against the Giants.

With the trade deadline just days away (Tuesday at 4 p.m. ET, this could be the Commanders' final chance to prove they should stand pat or be buyers, rather than selling.

Here are the inactives for both teams.
