5 Biggest Storylines: Redskins vs 49ers in Week 7
With the Washington Redskins getting their first win of the 2019 season in Week 6, there are an entire set of new storylines to discuss. Interim head coach Bill Callahan is looking to create a winning streak in Washington with a win over the undefeated San Francisco 49ers.
One of the biggest things to watch in this game are the running games of both the 49ers and the Redskins. The 49ers rely on it as the foundation to open up quarterback Jimmy Garropolo and San Francisco’s play-action passing. Callahan said a week ago that he wanted to run the ball more when he took over the head role, then followed up on that promise in the 17-16 Week 6 win over the Miami Dolphins. The 49ers run defense is very strong and will be a much more difficult test for Adrian Peterson and potentially Chris Thomspon.
Washington’s offensive line is a bit banged up, making the task even more cumbersome for offensive coordinator and play-caller Kevin O’Connell.
The Redskins return home after a successful road trip to South Beach and have seen the rest of the division fail to separate from the pack, leaving the long-shot dream of a miracle finish to the season intact. There’s always hope as the club looks to follow the lead of the WNBAs Washington Mystics and MLBs Washington Nationals.
With a chance to shock the world in Week 7 and take down the conferences lone remaining undefeated team, here are the 5 biggest storylines to get you ready for the game.
