The Washington Redskins are a 24/7 news outlet and it never ends.

Late Thursday afternoon, they announced that they had mutually parted ways with long-time executive Eric Schaffer.

Also, they announced that Doug Williams will be staying but in a different capacity, which was expected.

By statement, Redskins Owner Dan Snyder said "Doug Williams is a legend within the Redskins franchise. He is excited about this new role and in working with Coach Rivera. Doug is one of the most respected men in our building and I know that he will have an immediate impact on our players."

This is a much better role for Williams if we're being completely honest. We'll have more on that as soon as possible.

In addition, the Redskins replaced Schaffer with someone who has a direct working relationship with Ron Rivera.

“Rob was a tremendous resource for me over the past nine seasons, and I’m excited for him to be an integral part of building something special here with the Redskins,” said Washington Redskins Head Coach Ron Rivera," via a team issued statement.
