Titans Cut OT Taylor Lewan; Commanders Interested?

The Washington Commanders need some upgrades on the offensive line. Could that come in the form of Pro Bowl tackle Taylor Lewan?

It's the end of an era in Nashville today after the Tennessee Titans cut offensive tackle Taylor Lewan, according to his podcast Bussin' With The Boys.

Lewan, who turns 32 this summer, has spent eight years with the Titans since being drafted by them with the No. 11 pick in the 2014 NFL Draft. He's made the Pro Bowl three times and has been one of the best tackles in the league. Now, his future is up in the air.

He'll spend 2023 playing with a new team or on the couches with his cleats hung up.

Lewan may decide to retire, return to the Titans or head to a team that would sign him for more money. That team could be the Washington Commanders.

The Commanders are actively seeking to improve their offensive line, specifically eyeing prospects at the Senior Bowl. But if the opportunity arises to sign someone established like Lewan, that might prove to be the smarter route.

Washington's offensive line gave up the seventh-most sacks in the NFL (48). With Carson Wentz under center, five times he was sacked three or more times.

With the Commanders planning on starting fifth-round rookie Sam Howell from the jump, arming him with an offensive line that can give him time in the pocket will be crucial. And adding Lewan to the trenches would certainly do just that.
