Washington Commanders 'Looking Forward' to Atlanta Falcons Test, Says Sam Howell

The Washington Commanders are coming off a 40-20 loss to the Chicago Bears, but quarterback Sam Howell is excited to get back on track against the Atlanta Falcons.

The Washington Commanders are on a three-game losing streak and are struggling to keep their heads above water. After the 40-20 beatdown by the Chicago Bears, there wasn't much to be excited about moving forward.

But, as we know, time heals all.

For quarterback Sam Howell, the team has moved on from the disastrous performance put forth against the Bears and are excited to redeem themselves when they travel to face the Atlanta Falcons.

“We're excited to be back," Howell said. "Obviously had a few days off, we're past the Chicago game, and obviously wasn't the performance we wanted to have, but we're moving on. We still have 12 games to play, and we feel really good about our chances moving forward and in this building, we know what we're capable of as a team. What's behind us is behind us. We're looking straight ahead, and we're looking forward to this game Sunday against Atlanta, against a good opponent, a really good defense. We got to have a good week of preparation, and we're excited.”

The Commanders face a Falcons team that is coming off a 21-19 win over the Houston Texans and has a top-10 defense in terms of points allowed (just 19.2 points per game).

So, it will not be easy to move the ball up and down the field. But Washington has the players to do it. Terry McLaurin, Jahan Dotson, Curtis Samuel, and tight end Logan Thomas are all critical cogs in Eric Bieniemy's offense and will undoubtedly be called upon by Howell on Sunday.

But as far as facing Ryan Nielsen's defense, Howell knows what to expect.

"We kind of know what they like to do on defense, and they're a really good defense, and they haven't given up a lot of points," Howell said. "Teams have struggled moving the ball on them. They have really solid players all around."

The Commanders have a chance to stop their three-game skid against the Falcons, and with the embarrassment of the Bears' loss fueling them, Ron Rivera's team will want a better showing than what they produced against Chicago.

Do that, and on Sunday, the losing streak ends.
