Commanders Attending QB Caleb Williams Pro Day: How to Watch

The Washington Commanders may not get the chance to draft Caleb Williams, but that isn't stopping them from taking in the festivities.

When the NFL Draft begins in late April just about everybody expects the Chicago Bears to spend the No. 1 overall pick on USC quarterback Caleb Williams, just one pick before his hometown Washington Commanders are scheduled to go on the clock.

That truth isn't stopping the Commanders from attending the quarterback's - and his teammates' - Pro Day on Wednesday where they'll get to see him work out for evaluators for the first time.

Despite holding himself out of workouts at the NFL Scouting Combine Williams did admit that returning home to play for Washington would be a positive experience.

And for months there have been some who thought the quarterback may take the path of former New York Giants quarterback Eli Manning and Denver Broncos legend John Elway and force himself out of a franchise he doesn't want to play for to one he does.

That idea was all but put to rest in late February, however, by Williams himself.

"If I get drafted by the Bears, I'll be excited," he told ESPN. "If they trade the pick, and I get drafted by someone else, I'm just as excited. Speaking about Chicago, they have a talented team, a talented offense and defense. For anyone to be in that situation, I think they'd be excited."

Teams have long believed in the practice of scouting everyone, not just the guys you have the best chances of landing, because you never know what will happen in the future.

Commanders Draft Target: Rutgers CB Max Melton?

Perhaps Williams will be available for trade in three years like previous Bears quarterback Justin Fields. Or maybe you'll be the coach to work with him in your next job opportunity.

Whatever the possibility, there's no shortage of reasons to scout a guy you have almost no chance of drafting this current season. This is why all 32 teams are sending at least one representative to the Pro Day that fans can watch on NFL+ beginning at 1:30 p.m. ET on Wednesday.

USC receiver Brenden Rice, running back MarShawn Lloyd, and safety Calen Bullock are some of the other Trojans also looking to impress scouts and representatives during the Pro Day.
