Commanders Mock Ravens: 'Biggest Preseason W in History!' Live Updates
Would the Washington Commanders snap the Baltimore Ravens' 24-game winning streak in the preseason on Monday night? Indeed they would, with a last-second 29-28 victory that has Washington in a playful mood.
“All you could hear about is this streak, the streak,” Jahan Dotson said, adding sarcastically, “So I feel like we just had the biggest preseason W in history.”
Even before the game, the Commanders openly mocked "the streak,'' offensive lineman Sam Cosmi calling it "stupid'' and predicting that Washington would end the Baltimore run.
That is indeed what happened - complete with Cosmi's victorious "Griddy'' dance ... and here's how it when down chronologically ...
After being named the starter on Friday by head coach Ron Rivera, quarterback Sam Howell will see some action tonight. Howell will have everyone at his disposal except for tight end Logan Thomas and offensive tackle Charles Leno to protect him.
Defensively, Washington will be without nearly its entire starting defense. Chase Young, Jonathan Allen, Daron Payne, Montez Sweat, Phidarian Mathis, Kendall Fuller and Benjamin St-Juste are among those out. Rookies Emmanuel Forbes and Quan Martin are expected to see considerable playing time in the secondary.
Lamar Jackson is not playing for Baltimore and Tyler Huntley is hurt, leaving Josh Johnson and Anthony Brown to carry the offense. The Commanders and Ravens participated in joint practices last Tuesday and Wednesday.
