Commanders RB Brian Robinson Jr. Set For Breakout Year Under Eric Bieniemy?

Running back Brian Robinson enjoyed a fruitful rookie season with the Washington Commanders and his game could be taken to new heights under Eric Bieniemy.
In this story:

Washington Commanders running back Brian Robinson Jr. had a unique rookie season.

After missing the first four games of the year due to that infamous car-jacking incident that saw him get shot twice in his right leg, luckily missing any bones and ligaments, he eventually got going.

Once Robinson took the field, his talent was noticeable, and it was immediately evident why Washington viewed him as the team's starter prior to his incident. From his 12 games, the running back totaled 797 rushing yards and two touchdowns as he worked his way into the season.

Now with a new offensive coordinator in Eric Bieniemy, can Robinson improve on his rookie output? There is no reason to suggest he won't.

Chiefs running back Isiah Pacheco totaled 830 rushing yards and five touchdowns this past season so there is no reason to think that Robinson won't have a pivotal role to play next season ... especially if Sam Howell is named the starter.

So, what about Bieniemy's thoughts on Robinson?

"He's a man that overcame a situation and he played, which is unreal and says a lot about the man, says a lot about his character," Bieniemy said at his introductory press conference last week.

"We can praise him for all the things that he's done on the field, but for him to be resilient enough to put himself back in that situation says a lot about his character."

That resiliency will be a useful tool for Robinson as he looks to put himself on the map in NFL circles.

Despite missing four games, Robinson still finished sixth in rushing yards, third in yards per game, and fifth in rushing attempts among rookie running backs last season.

That with an offense that stuttered at the end of the year.

Can we expect even better things from the former Alabama alum? If Bieniemy has anything to do with it, Robinson's star will continue to rise.
