Sam Howell threw four interceptions in the Washington Commanders' win against the Buffalo Bills.

The Washington Commanders are in the loss column for the first time this season after losing 37-3 against the Buffalo Bills on Sunday afternoon at FedEx Field.

The Commanders had chances to score throughout the game, but they were thwarted by turnovers ... most of which quarterback Sam Howell was responsible for.

Howell completed 19 of 29 passes for 170 yards.

For the first time in his career, Howell struggled mightily. After throwing just two interceptions in his first three career starts, Howell doubled that number with four in Sunday's game.

The Commanders trailed by just two scores going into the second half, but the team couldn't build momentum after a Howell pick on the team's first possession of the third quarter.

The Bills were able to take advantage and put the foot on the gas pedal from there. Buffalo scored three touchdowns in the second half, including a pick-six from defensive end A.J. Epenesa that put an exclamation point on the win.

On the final drive, the Commanders kicked a 51-yard field goal from Joey Slye to avoid a shutout.

With the loss, the Commanders sit at 2-1 and will have to wait and see how the Dallas Cowboys and Philadelphia Eagles perform later in the week to determine if they will fall in the NFC East standings.

The Commanders will look to put this game behind them and bounce back on the road next week to face Jalen Hurts and the Eagles. Kickoff is scheduled for Sunday at 1 p.m.
