Washington Commanders Upset in Primetime vs. Chicago Bears in Embarrassing Fashion

The Chicago Bears played the Washington Commanders and gave them a wakeup call.
In this story:

The Washington Commanders were big favorites against the Chicago Bears going into Thursday Night Football, but that didn't matter in the 40-20 loss at FedEx Field.

The score makes the game seem closer than it was in reality as the Bears dominated the first half. Chicago raced out to an early lead and never let go, posting 27 points in the first half after Washington scored just a field goal.

The Commanders tried their best to come back, getting to within 10 points and attempting a field goal to get within a possession. However, Joey Slye missed a field goal from 46 yards out with less than six minutes to go, killing any chances of a historic comeback.

A game ball will certainly be going home with Bears receiver D.J. Moore, who had a career night with eight catches for 230 yards and three touchdowns. Justin Fields was also strong, completing 15 of 29 passes for 282 yards and four touchdowns.

Commanders quarterback Sam Howell played catch up all night and posted a career high of his own with 388 yards on 37 of 51 passing.

With the loss, the Commanders have dropped three straight games after starting 2-0 and the defeat should be a huge wakeup call for the team. If Washington continues to slide, it could result in the team being broken up and starting fresh with a new cast of characters.

Washington returns to action on Sunday, Oct. 15 against the Atlanta Falcons. Kickoff is scheduled for 1 p.m.
