Commanders' Sam Howell Impressive vs. Browns

The Washington Commanders were in action against the Cleveland Browns, with quarterback Sam Howell looking good in his first half as the team's starter.

One storyline that has most keeping an eye on this offseason is the quarterback battle for the Washington Commanders. With Sam Howell and Jacoby Brissett going toe-to-toe, just who is in front is anyone's guess.

Howell, in his bid to stake his claim against the Cleveland Browns, started relatively well. In his opening drive, Howell completed passes to Jahan Dotson, Curtis Samuel, Brian Robinson Jr., and Antonio Gibson, along with converting a 3rd-and-6 with a nice eight-yard run.

After a second drive that ended on a safety thanks to a holding call in the endzone from Andrew Wylie, Howell came right back and led a superb touchdown drive. It included some good throws on the move and a 4th and 3 completion to Cole Turner to keep the chains moving.

Then Howell found Jahan Dotson, who juggled the catch before crossing the goalline on a 26-yard touchdown pass.

Given it is preseason, Eric Bieniemy had seen enough from three drives from Howell and saw Jacoby Brissett come into the game.

Howell would finish going 8/11 for 51 yards and a touchdown while also rushing for eight yards.

Overall, Bieniemy and head coach Ron Rivera would have to be happy with Howell's work. He looked composed and got the ball out on time in tricky, wet conditions.

It couldn't have gone better for Howell, who did what he had to do during his time on the field, and he looked good doing it.
