Commanders Coach Eric Bieniemy Reveals Vision for Offense

Eric Bieniemy is bringing his Super Bowl-pedigree to the Washington Commanders. So what's his secret?
In this story:

Washington Commanders assistant head coach Eric Bieniemy knows a thing or two about leading a successful offense.

For the past five seasons as the Kansas City Chiefs offensive coordinator, Bieniemy has led the unit in the top-5 in every season.

So what's the secret behind his success and how does he plan to duplicate what he had in Kansas City in Washington?

"When it's all said and done with we're going to play hard, we're going to play fast, we're going to have a sense of urgency and a sense of purpose in everything that we do," Bieniemy said.

Sounds simple enough. It's a very broad answer, and every team in the NFL probably wants to do all of that, but it's easier said than done. Last season, the Commanders ranked 20th in the league in total offense, a number they will try and improve upon this season with Bieniemy's help.

"I got to make sure that I'm putting these guys in the best situation to be the most explosive, the most dynamic, and also more importantly, giving us the best opportunity to be successful," Bieniemy said.

While Bieniemy's responsibilities may change as the primary play caller, something he didn't do in Kansas City, the foundation remains the same.

Play hard. Play fast. Sense of urgency. Sense of purpose.
