Commanders Coach Ron Rivera: Very Few People 'Outwork' Eric Bieniemy

Eric Bieniemy is adjusting to life well in the nation's capital and his work ethic isn't going un-noticed.
In this story:

New Washington Commanders offensive coordinator Eric Bieniemy has hit the ground running in his new surroundings. After finally having the keys to his own offense (the thought was Andy Reid was the mastermind of Kansas City's offense), Bieniemy now gets his chance.

And he isn't wasting it.

Coming into a new environment, naturally, it will take time for Bieniemy to implement his ideas into the playing group. Having the title of "assistant head coach" has a nice ring to it, but for head coach Ron Rivera, it means a little bit more than that.

"It's not just a title, but it's a working title, and he's doing those things, and he's got those responsibilities," Rivera said. "I think he relishes it. I mean, he's one of those guys that very few people are gonna outwork, and he works very hard at what he's doing, and he's developing his way of doing it."

Taking over from Scott Turner's 24th-ranked offense last year (18.9/g), Bieniemy is going to have his work cut out to get the offense where he wants it to be.

With second-year quarterback Sam Howell given the first crack at the starting job, it will be a baptism of fire for the former North Carolina star.

But...he does have some weapons around him.

The likes of Jahan Dotson, Terry McLaurin, and Curtis Samuel headline the skill position group and then throw in running backs Antonio Gibson, Brian Robinson Jr., and Chris Rodriguez Jr., there is plenty to work with.

On paper, Washington looks solid across the board, but with Bieniemy's tireless work ethic as he puts in the time to get the offense humming as he wants, many expect good things from the Commanders next season.

And they could have Bieniemy's work ethic to thank as a result.
