The Washington Commanders continue to chip away.

After trailing 27-3 against the Chicago Bears at halftime on Thursday Night Football, the Commanders are now within 10 after Sam Howell's second touchdown of the night ... this time to receiver Curtis Samuel.

Here's a look at the play ...

Howell's touchdown capped off a 12-play, 75-yard drive that lasted 3:18.

For Samuel, it's his second touchdown in as many games after finding the end zone for the first time in 2023 on Sunday against the Philadelphia Eagles.

Samuel's versatility as a runner and receiver is definitely helpful for what the Commanders offense is trying to build.

"I think it fits in very well," coach Ron Rivera said during training camp. "Go back and get an opportunity to look at the stuff that they did in Kansas City and look at how creative and inventive they have been over the years with the receivers that they've had."

The Commanders opted to go for a two-point conversion to make it a one-possession game. However, Howell was unable to get rid of the ball and was sacked, resulting in the game staying at a two-possession deficit for the Commanders.

The Commanders are running out of time from pulling off a massive comeback, but given the fact that the Bears surrendered a big lead on Sunday against the Denver Broncos and that Washington has momentum on its side, the game is far from over.

The Commanders trail 30-20 with just under 11 minutes remaining in the game.
