Washington Commanders' Ron Rivera on Players' Growth & Development: 'The Time is Now!'

With the Washington Commanders season on life support, head coach Ron Rivera knows the time is now for players to show their development throughout the year.

The time for talking is over. The Washington Commanders lay beaten down and bloodied on the canvas as their season has slipped away. Now, at 4-9 on the season with four games to go, it's gut-check time in Washington.

With so much talk about players being developed and coaches stating how much growth they have seen, head coach Ron Rivera now wants to see results.

Potentially, with his job on the line in the next four weeks, Rivera is over talking about growth and development...it's time to show him.

"Eventually, if things continue to work and people get better, then you see the improvement, and we're coming up to a four-game stretch, four weeks left after this bye," Rivera said. "That's where you need to see it, you really do.

"It's about going out there and executing, about us making sure we've given them every opportunity to be successful. That's what it's truly about. You can only say so much about development and growth, you can only say so much about the process. There's a certain point in time when you get to each year and say, now's the time, let’s go. I mean, the process is now, and the time is now. So, let's see what we can do.”

Commanders head coach Ron Rivera wants his playing group to get down to business and show him what they're made of in the season's final stretch.

With games against the resurgent Los Angeles Rams, New York Jets, San Francisco 49ers, and the Dallas Cowboys, Washington faces a brutal end to the year.

But this is where the organization will find out which players they want to take on the journey next year and beyond and which ones they don't.

After back-to-back blowout losses, something has to give for the Commanders, and Rivera is tired of waiting around.

There are four games left in Washington's season, which is ample time for players to truly show how much they've developed over the season, as for some, their Commanders career might just depend on it.
