Commanders NFL Draft: 3 Biggest Offensive Needs

With the bulk of free agency already done, we're diving into the top needs the Washington Commanders need to address in the NFL Draft.

It's finally here and after tonight we'll be talking about who the Washington Commanders selected - or didn't select - in the first round of the NFL Draft instead of projecting our own intentions onto the No. 16 pick.

As you get set to watch the mayhem go down in anticipation of finding out who the newest Commanders player is, we present you the team's top three needs on offense entering the NFL Draft weekend.

NEED 1: Offensive Tackle

Washington did solid work this offseason improving the line in front of quarterback Sam Howell, but is there ever a time to stop working on arguably the most important group of players on the field?

Free agent addition Andrew Wylie can play just about anywhere so adding another offensive tackle only accentuates the Commanders' ability to get their best five on the field in front of Howell.

NEED 2: Tight End

Washington has a lot of solid tight ends.

Logan Thomas is an established veteran leader, John Bates was the best player in his draft class for this team and continues to be a solid player, while Cole Turner, Armani Rogers, and even Curtis Hodges all present intriguing amounts of potential.

But none of them is a top-tier tight end in the league.

Thomas is consistently battling injuries to stay on the field, Bates' upside may be limited, and none of the other three showed enough in production to take this position off the table for 2023.

NEED 3: Quarterback

Drafting a quarterback in the first round would be a mistake in our opinion, and isn't likely something to happen.

But it doesn't mean there's no need here either.

Until any NFL team has an established franchise quarterback it shouldn't stop looking for the next potential candidate.

Washington brought in Tennessee quarterback Hendon Hooker to be thorough, but if he's somehow there on Day 3, we don't think the team will hesitate to add him to their roster.

It's hard to anticipate where the Commanders will turn in Round 1, but no matter what they do Commander Country will be in Ashburn for every pick, and keeping you covered from the beginning of the NFL Draft, to the end.
