Commanders' Eric Bieniemy Has 'Instant Credibility' Says Ron Rivera
The Washington Commanders made a change with their offensive coordinator as Scott Turner was out after three seasons, and Kansas City Chiefs offensive wizard Eric Bieniemy replaced him.
Thus far, only good things have come out of Commanders OTAs, minicamp, and training camp about Bieniemy, as he has brought a vastly different approach to how the offense runs.
Such is his personality and how he wants things done, Commanders head coach Ron Rivera says that Bieniemy had instant credibility when he stepped foot in the nation's capital.
"He’s very loud which is pretty cool because it saves my voice a little bit," Rivera said. "He’s demanding and has a good grasp for what he does and what he believes in. He’s got a very direct way about him and has instant credibility for many reasons."
With Turner's offense being tough to watch at times last season, and Bieniemy's workings in Kansas City hoping to transfer over to Washington, many are excited about what the offense could look like.
Of course, Bieniemy has his own way of wanting things done and isn't shy about making it known. Even star receiver Terry McLaurin has highlighted EB's attention to detail as he comes to grips with his scheme.
They say that change is as good as a holiday, and for the Commanders, the change in coordinator has been a good thing.
The offense was ranked 23rd last season under Turner, but Bieniemy has all the tools to make it far better than that. His creativity is perhaps one of his best qualities, and as we have seen and heard from training camp, if things aren't done right, he makes it known.
Washington has been down in the doldrums of the NFL for years, but with new ownership and a coordinator who has set high standards that hopefully translate to success, the Commanders are finally in a good place, both on and off the field, for the upcoming season.
Even that feels weird to say.
